Here it is, readers. My schedule for the 35th annual Toronto International Film Festival. I’m actually not seeing as many films this year as I would like. My trip to Montréal last week made it impossible for me to attend many early press screenings, and I’m not officially accredited for the festival. The ballooning ticket prices gave me pause as well, so I’m only seeing 10 films. I was clutching to a sliver of hope that my work at KinoSmith might have led to a freebie industry badge, but alas, that has not to come to pass, either. Hopefully this means that I’ll be able to devote my full attention to writing reviews of each of these films:
- Thursday September 9: 9:00pm
Inside Job (USA, Director: Charles Ferguson) - Friday September 10: 6:00pm
Poetry (Shi) (South Korea, Director: Chang-dong Lee) - Saturday September 11: 9:45am
Erotic Man (Det Erotiske Manneske) (Denmark, Director: Jørgen Leth) - Saturday September 11: 8:45pm
The Trip (UK, Director: Michael Winterbottom) - Sunday September 12: 8:00pm
Submarine (UK, Director: Richard Ayoade) - Tuesday September 14: 7:00pm
Womb (Germany, Director: Benedek Fliegauf) - Tuesday September 14: 9:45pm
Balada Triste (The Last Circus) (Spain, Director: Alex de la Iglesia) - Wednesday September 15: 6:15pm
Blue Valentine (USA, Director: Derek Cianfrance) - Friday September 17: 9:00pm
Confessions (Kokuhaku) (Japan, Director: Tetsuya Nakashima) - Saturday September 18: 9:00pm
Cave of Forgotten Dreams (Germany, Director: Werner Herzog)
I’d just like to mention that a relatively light schedule for films means I’m available for lots of parties! I just might not be able to discuss many of the films the rest of you are seeing. 🙁
Inside Job was high on my to see list but it was sold out by time they got to my box. We will have to compare notes on Blue Valentine, The Last Circus and The Trip.
I just realized that I called my post about my TIFF schedule the exact same thing as yours…Of course, there aren’t many options for a title in this case, but still – sorry ’bout that. Didn’t mean to copy.
Your whole list looks great – though we only overlap on one screening, we’re seeing 4 of the same films. And I tried to get Saturday night’s showing of “The Trip”, but it sold out quick. Very curious about “Poetry” and “Erotic Man” as well.
I’ll look for you tomorrow night. Lissa and I are also going to Submarine. Missed you at Inside Job.
